September 2009 grading results
The student who participated in the September grading performed to a excellent standard which the top instructors in the IOGKF would be expecting and like myself proud of. Our club has been going through a rebuilding stage with so many older juniors students moving to the adult ranks which has left us at a new era of students which I hope I can build on and produce another fine crop of excellent student and members of society.
The start of the 2009 year begins Thursday the 5th of February
Looking forward to a big year
There has been some interest from a few new students which will be nice to see as we are always looking to spreads to word and values of Goju Ryu karate.
We will be having a grading at the end of the 1st term for those student that are selected so make sure you have been doing your applications and kata over the xmas break.
See you all soon and enjoy the rest of your well earned holidays

On the 28.6.2007 we had our pee wee grading.
All students focused well and performed their basics strongly.
Sensei Kevin was happy with the attention paid during the grading but spoke
long about the need to remain focused all the time not only when training
but while having a break or in the playground or at school as it is easy
to become distracted and not see potential accidents coming.
Sensei Kevin said that safety was the number one concern for all and it
is the responsibility for the older students to take care and responsibility
for the younger ones.
Sensei Kevin said that karate students should protect the young and weak
and never bully anyone for this would be an abuse of their karate training.

The Australian branch of the IOGKF had its national Gasshuku at Sydney
on the 27th to 29th of April with over 50 students attending half of which

It was a good chance for students, which did not travel to see sensei Morio

Friday night Sensei Simon Beaumont’s’ session started at 8.30 pm with a
good stretching and then we blew out the cobwebs until 10.00pm.
Saturdays training was from 8 15 am to 9.00 am for San Dan and above who
went through sanchin kata with sensei Chris Larken. 9.15 am to 10 .15 am
all grades training together then at 10.30 am students were split into individual
grades for kata and application training until lunch at 12 midday. 2.00pm
we continued on in the same groups for more kata and applications until
3.15 pm.
After a 15 minute break we resumed in a group session after which students
had a choice of 1 electives from 5 electives, i.e. Wrist locks and throws
(sensei Joe Roses) hoju undo ( Sensei Chris Larken ) stretching and kicking
combinations (Sensei Simon Beaumont), police enforcement and law requirements
( Sensei Gavin Hill ), sparring techniques ( Sensei Paul Parlett ) that
went till 5.30 pm a session which we all enjoyed.
Sunday morning schedule had the San Dan and above start at 8 15 am to 9.00
am practicing tensho kata and application drill with sensei Joe Roses.
9.15 am to 10 .15 am the class was split into individual grades for more

The Gasshuku was a great success and many thanks go out to Sensei Simon Beaumont and Mike for there efforts in organising such an fine gasshuku and to the senior instructors Sensei Joe Roses and Sensei Chris Larken for there tuition placing great enforces on kata and application which we all appreciated. The next Gasshuku will be held in Canberra on the 12thto 14th of October with guest instructors Sensei Bakkies. Please contact Sensei Joe Roses on 0402155361 or visit IOGKF ACT

Newcastle gasshuku and tournament March 2007
We all had a good time. Sensei Brad organised a good weekend,
in all there was about 45 kids from Newcastle Canberra and Goulburn.
We started with a 2 hour session in the morning teaching basics and kata and rules of the tournament followed by a beach session after lunch on Saturday then a BBQ tea with a kids disco.
Sunday saw the tournament start at 9 am and ended at 1pm. My son William
Nash got gold in sparing and kata in the under 7 and Chris Collins got bronze
in kata in under 10.
Newcastle won the David Lambert memorial shield for the most points accrued
over the tournament.
We left at 1.30pm and arrived home at 6.30pm that night after having
a big feed of McDonalds at Exeter.

Hi,
The pee wee grading was held yesterday and the results are.
The grading was of a good standard and I was happy with the students kata and applications and thanks to the other students that participated, Adam, Andre, Cassie and a big thanks to Carl.
We had a successful year with the Kids winter National Gasshuku held here in Canberra and spending the first half of the year concentrating on sparring and kicking techniques and the 2nd half of the year we spent on kata and basics which has seen a great improvement in all areas.
We have our xmas party next week then a break from training and we will be back on the Thursday school starts.
We will be going to Newcastle for the National Summer Gasshuku in March then we will hold the juniors grading mid first term.
To those I will not be seeing before xmas I would like to wish you all a merry Xmas and a happy new year.
