Welcome to IOGKFOZ.com, the official website for the Australian branch of the International Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do Federation (IOGKF). Our Chief instructors, Sensei Joe Roses & Sensei Chris Larken were officially appointed by World Chief Instructor, Master Morio Higaonna, 10th Dan Goju-ryu - the officially recognised heir to the style founder, Chojun Miyagi Sensei.

IOGKF Australia is committed to upholding the high standards of IOGKF International and is home many instructors of high technical ability. IOGKF AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL GASSHUKU - SEPTEMBER 2 - 4, 2011

This event will be held in Newcastle from September 2 - 4, 2011 under the instruction of IOGKF World Technical Advisor, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher - 8th Dan. This event will feature assistance from Australian Chief Instructors Sensei Joe Roses and Sensei Chris Larken.


IOGKF Australia March regional Seminar a Massive success!

Over 70 participants from Dojo's all over the country attended the Gasshuku which was held in Goulburn. Sensei Roses and Sensei Larken both took spilt Kyu and Dan grade sessions which were well received by all. The next Gasshuku will be in Newcastle with special guest instructor, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher.

IOGKF Australia to travel to South Africa for 2010 IOGKF World Event!

On October 22nd, a group of IOGKF Australian members will travel to Stellenbosch in South Africa to attend the IOGKF World Gasshuku and championships. Best wishes to the Australian group which will be lead by chief Instructors Sensei Joe Roses and Sensei Chris Larken. The event will be lead by World Chief Instructor, Sensei Morio Higaonna - 10th Dan, who will be assisted by IOGKF World Technical Advisors, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher - 8th Dan and Sensei Kazuo Terauchi - 8th Dan.

September 2010 IOGKF International Newsletter now available online

IOGKF Australian Chief Instructors to be featured in Blitz martial arts magazine

SENSEI JOHN LAMBERT PASSED AWAY

Sensei John Lambert, IOGKF Scotland chief instructor passed away on June 28th. Sensei Lambert was brother to our former late chief instructor, uncle to Sensei David Lambert at our Goulburn Dojo and a great friend and mentor to many in Australia. He has conducted National training courses in Australia and he will be sorely missed by many of our members. Sensei Lambert was an IOGKF founding chief instructor and has stood by Higaonna Sensei for over 32 years. A tribute article will be feature on Sensei John Lambert in the September 2010 IOGKF International Newsletter.


IOGKF GOULBURN VISIT TO CANBERRA

A group of keen students from the IOGKF Goulburn Lambert Dojo travelled with their instructor to Sensei Joe Roses’ Canberra Dojo recently for a night of hard training under senior Australian instructors. The Goulburn Workers club donated their bus for the cause and Mr. Peter Grady volunteered to drive the bus. Many thanks to Mr. Wayne Hill for accompanying everyone on this trip. A very special thank you to Sensei Joe and Sensei Ari for making everyone feel so welcome!
